Much better

Alrighty it has been 2 hours since my last post and life is much better. It is amazing what a good breakdown can do. I’m gonna give a quick shout out to Jon Ventura for his mad photography skills, but also thank him for introducing me to this awesome website! I Heart Faces. It is a blog where people enter a photography contest every week. They have different themes for each week and you click on a link and it will take you to their blog where their picture is posted. This week's theme is No Flash. I’ve spent the past 2 hours (yes, I’ve been on the Internet for 2 hours straight) looking at the different pictures and it is so fun! I’m a huge photography buff, so this is right up my alley! Here are some of my favorite pictures!

I
I’ve also been impressed with the things these different photographers have to say on their blogs. Some of them have adopted like 10 kids, some are living in Europe with 2 little kids and traveling all around the continent (my dream!), and most of them have a deep commitment to Christ. Some of them are LDS, some of them aren’t, but I find it impressive when people live such Christ-centered lives regardless of what religion they are. Plus everyone has good music on their blogs (most of which is now on mine :) )
I think my sister should post this one of my nephew when he was little.

I've snapped

I snapped today.

And I finally was able to cry. I’ve needed to have a good cry for months now and just haven’t been able to

I promise I’m not as negative and angry as this post will make me sound. In reality, my life is wonderful and exciting and bright and I have many many many many blessings. I have the most amazing family. I have some really fantastic friends. I have so many opportunities in front of me. It has just been a long semester.

I’m irritated with doctors who don’t really care about helping you to feel better, they just want your money. I feel like I am permanently car sick and have a constant headache. I’m tired all the time, regardless of if I get 5, 7, or 9 hours a sleep. My bones ache so bad sometimes that I can’t fall asleep. The doctors have no interest in helping me find out why, but they sure do want my money. Go to your primary care physician first Andrea, then come to us, then we will send you to someone else who might actually know what he/she is talking about but really will just look at one thing and if that isn’t it just pretend like you were never even a patient and give up. Oh and give us your money. Maybe I’m just a crazy, drama-queen hypochondriac. Or maybe something is wrong.

I’m super bugged by my program. There are SO many professors who are supposed to be helping me become a competent physical therapist, who are lovely individuals with so much to offer I’m sure, but who can’t teach worth crap. There is so much busy work given that is so amazingly useless that takes away from time I could use to learn something that is important for me to know! There is so much information that we are not being taught and we need to be. But instead we have classes that spend 15 minutes defining the word “recreation”. And the thing that gets me the most is WE ARE NOT LEARNING HOW TO TREAT PEOPLE. They talk about prevalence in the population, they talk about the pathology (which is very good to know too), but they are not teaching us how to actually treat things! I can tell you all kinds of things about Cerebral Palsy, except how to treat a patient with it. I know tons about the anatomy of the wrist, but I only know the very basics about treating someone with a wrist issue. It need to be taught how to diagnose problems and I need to know the anatomy, and they are doing a fine job with that, but it does not help me if I don’t know what to do from there since I am going to be a PHYSICAL THERAPIST! They need to stop making me take these classes that are a JOKE and start teaching me things I will need to know very soon when I am on my own. They need to find professors who don’t just read off the slides in a monotone voice and who can’t explain things well. There is such a lack of communication between the professors and students and administrators and clinical instructors and the organization of the program and most of the classes is ridiculous. We need more clinical application for the stuff they are teaching us. Oh, but go ahead and give us tuition money anyway. Oh and if you wanna go ahead and pay us tuition when you are working for free this summer and 3,000 miles away from campus that would be great too.

I’m sick of people saying obnoxious things to me just because I am a BYU fan. There is good-natured bantering between rival schools and then there is just straight up being jerks. I got a call from an anonymous individual mocking me after BYU lost. Please tell me what purpose a call like that serves. The only one I can see is to make me upset and that is absolutely deplorable. (I looked that word up in the thesaurus cuz I couldn’t come up with one that adequately described my feelings on the matter.)

I’m tired of people criticizing me. Some tell me I am lazy and always doing things for fun when I should be studying. It always seems that if I do something other than study all day, people are like, “How do you have time for that?” in a tone that seems condescending as if I am not working hard enough. Some tell me I need to live a little and make time for fun and constantly harass me to do what they want me to do, when they want me to do it and if I don’t call me a grumpy party-pooper. I’m not grumpy, you are just annoying! I’m tired of being made to feel guilty for not doing something when I have no obligation to do so (i.e. cleaning the Stadium, putting up bubbles, going on a date). My family will be okay if they aren’t served appetizers at my graduation—I don’t need to go out of my way to help put up a bubble if I already have commitments. The $4 an hour I get for doing it isn’t worth it to me. I’m tired of always doing something wrong or not doing enough and I’m tired of people telling me it. I’m tired of advice on how to live my life from people who a) don’t know me and b) don’t really care about me. They just think they are right.

Well, that is a thoroughly depressing post, but I feel much better after venting.

Also, this is really funny. Click on the link.

Things You Didn't Know About Me

So there was a thing going around facebook a few weeks ago where you listed 25 things that people didn't know about you and then tagged other people to do it too. I'm a little behind the trend, but here it is. I tried to come up with stuff that nobody at all knows about me. Here we go.

  1. I eat about 3 bowls of Fruity Pebbles a day. I absolutely love this cereal! And added bonus... it has tons of vitamins and minerals in it!
  2. I want to be a wedding planner. I love planning events and creating something really cool and I think weddings would be awesome.
  3. I'm a loner by choice. I don't like to always have someone with me. I like going into situations where I don't know anybody (and then making new friends). Sometimes this can be hard on me because I obviously get lonely, but I just can't handle "cling".
  4. I'm afraid of grates. Ya know, those grates in the street that have big huge holes underneath them? I get really nervous walking over them-- my heart starts pounding faster and everything.
  5. I LOVE LOVE LOVE learning, but I love sleep even more, so usually instead of doing something productive like learning new things I take a nap.
  6. I don't like being dependent on others.
  7. When I was little, I wrote so much that my middle fingernail on my right hand is a little deformed where my pencil rested. I was always writing creative stories and such.
  8. I'm paranoid about chin fat. I put on some pounds in Alaska, but it doesn't really bother me that much. But the thing that gets me to the gym is the idea of my chin getting fat. If you watch me, I play with the skin/fat under my chin a lot cuz it bugs me.
  9. I want to be a country girl. My dream life would be owning a house in some backwoods area (pretty country with woods and beautiful nature and stuff) where everybody is close and we have barbeques all the time and I sit on my porch at night with my friends and family and dog looking at the stars. The John Denver kinda life.
  10. I can't swallow pills well. I usually gag a few times before I can get one down.
  11. I'm paranoid about chewing loudly. I get really self-conscious when I'm chewing in a quiet place.
  12. I love hugs. I think even my family doesn't know this about me. There is nothing better than a nice big hug. A lot of the time if I've had a bad day, I just want a big hug. Not advice or consolation. Just a hug. Not the kind of hug where they are squeezing you really tight, but the kind where you are just relaxing in the hug.
  13. I've never been to a pro football game. Shocker, I know. All I want in life is to go to a professional football game. That is it.
  14. This is even more of a shocker to most people-- I hated BYU at first. I DID NOT want to go there-- I only went there because the other schools I got into were like $40,o00 a year. I'm not even the one who filled out the BYU application-- my mom did it cuz I had no intention of going there. I hated BYU for the first year and a half that I went there. The main reason I graduated in 3 years is so that I could get out of Provo. And for half of that first year and a half I was going to school at BYU-Hawaii. But then I fell in love with BYU and Provo and would give anything to go back!
  15. I've wanted to be a foster mom since I was 15.
  16. I'm obsessed with light. When I am studying, I have 4 lights on in my room. It seriously drives me crazy to not have adequate lighting in a room. I love houses with tons of windows to let lots of light in.
  17. I'm a smile kinda gal. A guy who has a good smile captures my attention/interest immediately.
  18. I'm envious of people who can accurately quote movies. I can only get the jist of quotes, but never the exact words, so I always mess up the joke.
  19. I take 3o minute showers. I just can't seem to make them any shorter. Some of you may know this and hate this about me, but hey, it is just who I am! I can't change who I am.
  20. Grocery shopping is my stress reliever. There is something about having wandering around aisles surrounded by food that makes me feel like life is gonna be just fine!
  21. It REALLY upsets me when my family members swear. I'm not overly offended when other people swear, but for some reason when my family members do it just bugs me to the core. When I was in elementary school my sister swore at the dumpster and I walked home the long way so I wouldn't have to walk home with her cuz I was so mad. (My family members don't swear that often though I promise! It is a rare occurrence!) I try to control the anger, but I just can't!

Okay so you are supposed to put 25 things, but I can't think of anymore, and I have to get back to my homework, so I will finish the list as I come up with things.

Also, please visit my other blog. This is something very important to me.
